That does not make it the automatic answer for every rig. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus is more flexible if you want battery expansion and unusually strong solar input. The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is lighter and straightforward. The BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 makes a compelling value case while retaining 1,800W output and high solar input.

These are manufacturer specifications reviewed in August 2026. Recharge times depend on settings and conditions; solar input is a ceiling, not a promise that panels will deliver that figure all day.
If we could buy one today
We would choose the Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 for a general-purpose RV and road-trip power station. Its 2,000W output creates more room for demanding appliances than the Jackery, while its 24.9-pound weight is noticeably easier to move than many units in this class. Anker advertises a full AC recharge in 49 minutes when UltraFast mode is enabled in the app.
Independent lab testing supports the portability case: OutdoorGearLab praised its power-to-weight combination and suitability for weight-conscious travelers. The compromise is important: Anker says the Gen 2 does not accept an expansion battery. If we expected the system to grow beyond 1kWh, we would buy the EcoFlow instead.
How we chose these four
We focused on the 1kWh class because it is a practical middle ground for many RV travelers. These units can handle electronics, lighting, fans, a portable refrigerator or cooler, and many small appliances without becoming a 70-pound system that rarely leaves the storage bay.
Every finalist had to meet the following screen:
- Current LiFePO4 battery chemistry with a published long-cycle-life claim
- Roughly 1,000Wh of capacity and at least 1,500W of continuous AC output
- A weight that one capable adult can reasonably move
- AC, solar, and vehicle-charging options

Anker lists 4,000 cycles before the battery reaches at least 80% capacity, a 10-millisecond UPS switchover, 600W maximum solar input, and a 49-minute full AC charge through its app-enabled UltraFast mode.
For an RV traveler, the headline is not the record-style charging claim. It is the combination of 2,000W output and 24.9-pound weight. That is enough inverter headroom for many coffee makers, microwaves, induction burners, and other short-duration appliances—provided the appliance’s actual running and startup demand remains within the unit’s limits.
Choose it if
- You want one portable unit for campsite, vehicle, and home-outage duty.
- Fast shore-power or household-outlet charging matters.
- You will move it often and still want 2,000W continuous output.
- One kilowatt-hour is enough for the way you camp.
Skip it if
You want to add a matching expansion battery later. Anker’s support documentation says the Gen 2 omits expansion to reduce size and weight. It also should not be treated as weatherproof simply because it is camping equipment; follow the storage and operating limits in the manual.
2. EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus: best for a system that can grow
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus pairs a 1,024Wh LFP battery with 1,800W continuous output, 3,600W surge output, 13 output ports, two USB-C ports rated up to 140W, and two solar inputs that accept up to 500W each.
EcoFlow says it can expand with compatible batteries to as much as 5kWh. That changes the purchase from a self-contained box into the beginning of a larger power system. It also supports EcoFlow’s 800W alternator charger, which can matter more than portable solar for travelers who regularly move between camps.
At about 27.6 pounds, it is still portable but is the heaviest of these four. The dual solar inputs and expansion path are wasted if the unit will only charge from a campground pedestal and power phones. They become valuable when longer off-grid stays are genuinely part of the plan.
Choose it if
- You may add capacity instead of replacing the whole system.
- High solar input or an alternator-charging ecosystem matters.
- You need many simultaneous ports or high-output USB-C charging.
Skip it if
You only need a compact weekend box and will never buy the extra battery, solar array, or alternator charger that creates its advantage.
3. Jackery Explorer 1000 v2: best for uncomplicated portability
The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 offers the largest battery in this comparison at 1,070Wh while weighing about 23.8 pounds. It provides 1,500W continuous output, 3,000W surge, three AC outlets, two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, a 12V vehicle port, and up to 400W of solar input.
Its advantage is easy to understand: it is the lightest choice here and its interface is approachable. TechRadar’s current portable-power roundup highlights the Explorer 1000 v2 for camping and praises the updated model’s portability and port selection. The tradeoff is the lowest continuous AC output in the group.
That 1,500W limit is not a problem for laptops, camera batteries, lighting, fans, many portable fridges, and modest appliances. It becomes the deciding limitation when a traveler wants to run a higher-wattage cooker, heater, microwave, or other equipment with demanding startup current.
Choose it if
- The unit will be carried between home, RV, picnic table, or tent regularly.
- Your device list stays comfortably below 1,500W.
- You value a simple, established product line over maximum configurability.
Skip it if
Your priority appliance runs close to or above 1,500W, or you want to harvest more than 400W of solar when conditions cooperate.
4. BLUETTI Elite 100 V2: the value pick to watch
The BLUETTI Elite 100 V2 matches the EcoFlow’s 1,024Wh capacity and 1,800W continuous output while weighing about 25.3 pounds. BLUETTI lists 11 ports, up to 1,000W of solar input, an 80% AC recharge in 45 minutes, a 10-millisecond UPS mode, and more than 4,000 battery cycles.
This is the one we would price-check against the Anker before checkout. If it is meaningfully less expensive and 1,800W is enough, it can be the smarter value. Its 1,000W solar ceiling is especially appealing on paper, although realizing that input requires a sizable, compatible array and strong conditions.
The same TechRadar 2026 roundup gives the Elite 100 V2 four stars among its tested units. That does not make every model or firmware version identical, but it adds independent support beyond the specification sheet.
Choose it if
- The current price is substantially below the Anker or EcoFlow.
- You want 1,800W output and the option for high solar input.
- A compact 1kWh box fits better than a large expandable system.
Skip it if
The price gap is small enough that Anker’s higher output or EcoFlow’s ecosystem provides more useful long-term value.
How to size a portable power station for your RV
Start with the appliance, not the battery. Read the device label or measure the actual running wattage with an appropriate power meter. Multiply watts by the hours you expect to run it, then add a practical reserve for inverter losses, standby use, changing temperatures, and the fact that estimates are never exact.
For example, a device averaging 60W for eight hours consumes about 480Wh before losses. A 1,024Wh station should not be described as “17 hours guaranteed,” because the inverter, other loads, cycling behavior, and conditions all affect the result. Planning on 20–25% reserve is more realistic than spending every advertised watt-hour on paper.
Then confirm four separate limits:
- Continuous watts: what the inverter can provide steadily.
- Starting or surge watts: the brief demand when a compressor or motor starts.
- Watt-hours: the energy available over time.
- Recharge rate: how quickly AC, solar, or vehicle charging can put that energy back.
A high-watt inverter does not create more runtime. A large battery does not guarantee it can start a demanding appliance. Both sides of the equation have to work.
RV connection and safety realities
- Do not backfeed an RV, house, or electrical panel through an improvised cord. Use only manufacturer-approved connections and a properly designed transfer method.
- A portable station’s 120V outlet does not magically provide full 30A or 50A RV service. Any adapter still leaves the system limited by the power station’s inverter, outlet, and cable ratings.
- Keep the station dry, ventilated, secured for travel, and away from heat sources. Follow its charging and operating-temperature limits.

Portable power station FAQs
Can a 1kWh power station run an RV air conditioner?
Sometimes briefly, but this is not a safe blanket promise. The air conditioner’s running wattage, compressor startup surge, soft-start equipment, outside temperature, and every other active load matter. Even when the inverter can start it, a 1kWh battery may provide disappointing runtime.
Can I plug my RV into one of these power stations?
Some travelers use a correctly rated adapter for limited RV loads, but the power station’s inverter and outlet remain the limit—not the number printed on the RV plug. Turn off high-demand loads and follow both manufacturers’ instructions. Never improvise a backfeed connection.
Is a portable power station the same as a generator?
